Messages from the community

The phone box displayed messages from the community, including from the school, with pilgrims travelling from Dunbar to Glasgow along the John Muir Way visiting it on route.

Meeting with Paul McLennan MSP

Paul McLennan MSP visited the phone box and met with the community, which was an excellent opportunity to discuss issues related to the climate crisis and hear his vision for East Lothian as a wellbeing economy. article in Courier

Community presence on the high street

For three days members of CAEL (who braved the heavy rain!) were available at the phone box to chat with the community about the climate emergency, CAEL and COP26.

Vigils

Weekly vigils for COP26 were held at the Square in East Linton. Led by Rosalie, people were able to come together quietly focusing on COP26 leadership, with poems, moments of silence and opportunities to visualise positive leadership and decisions.

On Saturday 6th November a group from East Linton joined the Global Day of Action in Glasgow. Key messages from the phone box were included in the placards to represent the wider community.

What next?

All messages from the phone box have been collated and sent to Holyrood and Westminster.

There is a lot to digest and reflect on following COP26. A wider meeting for anyone interested to attend will be arranged shortly, and a follow up meeting with Paul McLennan MSP, where we can all collectively take stock and also take direction on how CAEL and East Linton can support Scottish and local council plans.
