Save the trees!

Working together to protect nearly 300 trees being felled at the National Museum of Flight, resulting in planning permission being refused by the Council.

Climate Action East Linton played its part together with Rewilding East Lothian and numerous local community groups and individuals to protect nearly 300 trees from being felled at the site of the National Museum of Flight.  An East Lothian-wide petition gained thousands of signatures, local people wrote letters to their Councillors, and some of us attended the East Lothian Council Planning Committee meeting in February 2020.

Planning permission was refused by the council

National Museums Scotland has since lodged an appeal to the Scottish Government.  Members of this group actively encouraged each other to write to our MSP and the Scottish Government Reporter, alongside many others from across East Lothian. Over 200 written objections have been lodged with the Scottish Government Reporter.  A final decision is yet to be made.

This article gives a great overview on why protecting our own local habitats are so important.
