What do we want to happen in East Linton?
Over the summer of 2019 Climate Action East Linton shared a survey within East Linton to learn what different sustainability areas were of importance to the community and gather different ideas for what would be useful in the East Linton area.
Save the trees!
Working together to protect nearly 300 trees being felled at the National Museum of Flight, resulting in planning permission being refused by the Council.
What we love about our world
Over a few events (East Linton community fair August 2019, East Lothian Rise Up Rally in September 2019) and with contributions from East Linton Primary School’s eco-committee, people wrote on handprints what they love about the world.
East Lothian Rise Up!
In September 2019 Climate Action East Linton, collaborating with a number of other local community groups in East Lothian to organise an ‘East Lothian Rise Up’ rally in Haddington. The event tied in with the Global #ClimateStrike/ #Earthstrike.
The Big Climate Conversation
The Big Climate Conversation was a public engagement programme about climate change held over six months across Scotland as part of the Scottish Government’s Climate Change initiative.
Here is the feedback note for the event, attended by 24 people in the Village Hall, East Linton, on 21 October 2019.
Community Survey results
60 members of the community responded to the survey, either online or in paper form (with post boxes for forms made available at the community hall, library, and Mart). In addition a facilitated session was held with the Brownies to get further ideas of what was important.
Trees In The Park
In late 2019 a sub group formed to plan and work towards trees being planted in the park.
Consultation with farmers
Climate Action East Linton has started consulting with farmers and small-holders in the district to better understand the range of views present in the farming community on the climate crisis and biodiversity.
